Brown Butter Lemon Garlic Salmon & Parmesan Orzo Bake

A rich and flavorful one-pan dish featuring tender salmon, nutty brown butter, and creamy parmesan orzo.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 lemon (zested and juiced)
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large oven-safe skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook until butter turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 3-4 minutes).
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in orzo, lemon zest, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is slightly tender.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in parmesan cheese and half the lemon juice. Nestle salmon fillets into the orzo mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered for 15-18 minutes until salmon is cooked through. Garnish with fresh parsley and remaining lemon juice before serving.
