Ham & Cheese Lasagna with Creamy Mornay Sauce

For the Crust:

  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to form a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Add salt, nutmeg, and black pepper. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese to make the Mornay sauce.
  4. Layer 3 lasagna noodles in the baking dish. Spread a third of the Mornay sauce over the noodles, then half the ham, and a third of the mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles, sauce, and remaining cheeses.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
