Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 12 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  3. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
