The Best Mexican Restaurant Cheese Dip

A creamy, cheesy dip that tastes just like the one from your favorite Mexican restaurant.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb white American cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles, drained
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Heat until warm but not boiling.
  2. Add the cubed American cheese to the warm milk mixture, stirring constantly until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in the diced green chiles, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Continue to cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dip is smooth and well combined.
  5. Serve warm with tortilla chips, nachos, or vegetables.
