Onion Beef Fried Rice

A savory and quick fried rice dish with tender beef and caramelized onions.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (preferably day-old)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same wok, add the remaining oil and sauté onions until caramelized. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Push onions to one side, pour beaten eggs into the wok, and scramble until set.
  4. Add rice, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Return beef to the wok, mix well, and cook for another 2 minutes. Garnish with green onions before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
