Moist Triple Chocolate Cake – A Chocoholic’s Dream!

A decadent, ultra-moist chocolate cake layered with rich chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate shavings.

For the Crust:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup strong black coffee (hot)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • Chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, buttermilk, coffee, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. For the ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips, let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Cool slightly before spreading between layers and over the cake. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
