For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and add oil, vanilla, vinegar, and water. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
