German Chocolate Cheesecake

A decadent cheesecake combining rich chocolate and coconut-pecan topping, inspired by German chocolate cake flavors.

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 24 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 oz German sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Mix cookie crumbs and melted butter; press into 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and melted chocolate.
  3. Pour filling over crust. Bake 45-50 minutes until center is almost set. Cool completely.
  4. Combine coconut, pecans, evaporated milk, brown sugar and egg yolk in saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened, about 10 minutes.
  5. Spread topping over cooled cheesecake. Refrigerate at least 4 hours before serving.
