Brown Butter Garlic Parmesan Orzo with Crispy Bacon

A rich and savory orzo dish with nutty brown butter, garlic, parmesan, and crispy bacon.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 8 oz orzo pasta
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside on paper towels.
  2. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook until butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add orzo to the skillet and stir to coat in the brown butter. Toast for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in parmesan cheese, crispy bacon, and parsley. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Serve warm with extra parmesan if desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
