Banana Walnut Dream Cake

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chopped walnuts.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
